Introduction
Business Information Systems (BIS) entails the organization and analysis of business information using technology. The use of the internet and other cloud computing applications assists businesses in the creation of proper business strategies to improve revenue (Sousa & Oz, 2014). The FCC Community Centre faces several problems that can be solved using BIS. Notably, issues with customer relations require the use of technology to address. Thus, this report will identify the right BIS that the FCC Center can use to improve communication with customers. In addition, the benefits the FCC Center can derive from adopting the right BIS will be discussed. Consequently, the report will address the different challenges expected to hinder the incorporation of the chosen BIS in business strategy and measures that can be taken to overcome them.
BIS
There are two main types of information technology systems including traditional and cloud computing. Conventional information technology infrastructures consist of several hardware pieces including desktop computers that get connected to a network using a server. The server is installed in the business premise and all employees us it to access stored business data. However, extra hardware must be purchased and an IT department set up to maintain and upgrade the server regularly. On the other hand, cloud computing is a technology based on information that allows sharing of configured system resources. Such resources are mainly provided and accessed over the Internet with minimum supervision and management. Cloud computing enables businesses to reduce the cost of operation by decreasing the cost of setting up information technology infrastructure.
Advantages of Cloud Computing
There are many advantages of using cloud computing. One of the benefits of a cloud is automation. The management of a cloud does not require a business to make any maintenance effort after purchase. The hosting company takes care of the necessary hardware and software and ensures the security of data and smooth running of operations. Another advantage is the reduced cost of running cloud-based system. With cloud computing, companies only pay for what is used and not buy hardware in advance that may not be used. Also, scalability and reliability is another advantage of the cloud-based system compared to traditional ones. Cloud offers unlimited data storage space and scales up and down depending on the level of traffic. In IT systems one must buy new hardware every time space runs out.
