A Personal Reflection of the University and How It Has Enhanced My Employability
Introduction
In this essay I offer a reflection of my university experience and how it has enhanced my employability. My university life has accorded me the best chance so far in my life to accumulate skills related to my chosen field of business, grow a new network of people who I relate with professionally, and project my skills and knowledge towards becoming a useful person to my future employers. I have evaluated the personal ethics needed to sustain my employment, and evaluated the various facets of lifelong learning that will help me remain relevant in my chosen field. Overall, the experience has been beyond my initial conceptualization, and affected the perceived importance of my old networks, as I seek to build more productive relations in terms of career advancement.
Professionalism
The current market demands have made it harder for professionals to balance between personal and organizational values on the one hand and organizational demands on the other. Cut-throat competition and huge demands from shareholders have obscured individual and organizational values as firms focus more on increasing profitability. I acknowledge that I am joining the professional world at a tricky moment when business graduates are heavily relied upon to help their employers achieve the critical aspect of ‘even higher profitability’. The downside to this is that revelations of professional malpractices are being reported with incredible frequency. While this discussion is subtly inclined towards values and standards of a professional, I will take a more basic look at the concept – one related to competency and the authoritative conceptualization of course concepts.
