Prior to the mentioning of the effects, it would only be fair to know what nanotechnology entails. It is one of the most frequent yet confused concepts in the field of science. Broadly, this field of technology dwells in building materials and devices, mostly mimicking the sizes of atoms and molecules; scales at which the principles of physics as those dealing with conductivity. Therefore, it is very obvious that predicting the behaviors and properties of products of nanotechnology may be a bit of a challenge. As such, the adverse effects of such devices may be underestimated or ignored. All in all, it is worth noting that nanotechnology, just like any other aspects of technology, has both the merits and demerits. It has been a basis of several research works sparking the field of nanotechnology with a myriad of controversies; some arguing for or against the concept.

One such study dwelt on the possible effects of nanotechnology on human and environmental health. It is very admirable how vivid and in-depth the study covered the concept; however, it gave more weight to the disadvantages; that should not be the case. As found out by the study, nanoparticles can infiltrate the tissues as well as fluids of the body (Catherine 56). Apparently, this makes nanoparticles very lethal as they can resultantly alter the functioning and operations of the affected tissues and fluids. More shocking yet, is the ability of the particles to not only penetrate but also rapidly spread throughout the body due to their solubility. So, this makes nanotechnology a greater concern, particularly with respect to human health.
