It affects daily interactions with other people and determines how productive an individual can be in situations involving working with other people. Emotional intelligence refers to one's ability to recognize and understand emotions and the skill of using this awareness to manage oneself and his/her relationship with other people (Emotional Intelligence). Emotional intelligence is an important part of decision making. It explains why someone will prefer one choice over another when making a choice on what action to take. Emotional intelligence comprises five main competencies: self-awareness, self-regulation, motivation, empathy and social skill.
