Topic Reflection
The article An Examination of McKinney-Vento Act and its influence on the Homelessness Education by Peter Michael Miller is an article that's trying to explain some of the social injustice in the society by looking at the poor student who has passion for education, but they have no place to call home. It’s a big challenge to these children as they seek education and the writer has tried to propose some of the solutions to the problem (Miller, 2011). The critique of this article is a mixed evaluation of both the negative and positive aspects.
Critique of the Article
Among the three basic needs, a shelter is one of them, and it is paramount because without a place to rest after day’s work makes us vulnerable to many dangers including diseases. The writer’s choice of study is a big step in the society in trying to identify some of the problems the disadvantaged face. The article starts by identifying and explaining the problem to give an insight of the problem at hand. The study is well coordinated as it takes place in rural areas which are mostly affected by the issue of homelessness and he goes ahead to propose some suggestions that can help deal with the problem. There is a good flow of ideas in the article from introducing the issue, impact in the society, recommendations and how the society as a whole can contribute to making sure that homeless children can attend school without any problem.
