Introduction
Islamophobia is defined as unnatural terror that stimulates existing Eurocentric and Orientalist universal control configuration. It directs towards Muslims being a threat towards maintenance and allowances of current differences in economic political and social setup. With the aim of rationalizing the need to organize violence as a way to achieve civilization of the target community which is Islam. Islam has its misconception that surrounds them which evolve around the issues in the Islam religion. Some of this mistake touch on; the way they dress, their exclusive God who is Allah, Jihad which they believe it’s to strive to apply oneself to persevere struggle.How they view their women as slaves and having no rights.The consequences of some of the sins in the religion for example apostasy is punishable by death. Members of the religion term Isis members as Muslims. They also view Jesus as a prophet and not the son of God. Their laws are about protecting the innocent while at the same time uploading Islamic values as a way of life. Also in the individual situation, they are allowed to lie to achieve their goals but allowed in cases whereby there is great danger, and its outcome might be a loss of lives.
What I learned from the presentation
From the presentation, I was able to learn many aspects of Islam and what they believe in and many other issues that surround them. To begin with, I was able to differentiate between Islam, Muslim, and Arabs. Muslims perceived as a follower of Islam and Islam being one of the dominant religion in the universe. Muslim people live their lives according to this religion which includes praying five times a day, and they believe in Quran their religious book. On the other end, Arab is a name given to people according to where they come from, and there is no guarantee that they must be Muslims. I was able to learn also what Islam teach; their teachings based on the Quran and the lifestyle of Prophet Muhammed. It also covers a range of topics which include simple eating manners and all the way to political systems. Some of the major teachings they encounter include worship of one and only God and matters concerning Whom they worship they believe in oneness. Muslims are also taught by Islam to access both wings of Islam religion the first wing being to keep performing the ritual worships and the second side is kept performing good deeds for the benefit of the entire community. Another thing I was able to learn about Muslims is their extreme beliefs which I found out they believe in one God who has no son nor any partner and no one has a right to be worshiped but only him. Theirs belief in the existence of angels they term them as honored creatures. They also happen to believe in Gods revealed books and that God revealed books to its messengers to proof to humanity that indeed he existed.
On what I learn about Islamophobia is that Islam termed as a group that is resistant to change and also that it is separate from other cultures and also different and thus termed as not having values that are common to other cultures. In the west, is termed inferior barbaric irrational primitive and sexist in nature. The Islam religion termed as very rough aggressive life-threatening and in full support of terror activities, and it is seriously engaged in the clash of civilization. Islam view by the universe as an ideology that it is used for political or military advantage and any criticism they make of the West terms as not considerable therefore rejected. The hostility experienced today towards Islam justified by practices of terror attacks by Muslims and hence their exclusion from the mainstream of the society. The acts of anti-Muslim are seen as normal in most parts of the universe.
How it relates to the course
The course concerned with the study of human geography which includes religion and cultural differences the entire unit gives us an idea of the existence of different religions and different cultures in the world. From the presentation, Islam touched on majorly and it being one of the dominant religions in the universe it gives an example of the religion that exists in the entire world and hence making the topic very relevant towards studying of these aspects.
