The issue of child sex selection has prominently featured in news owing to the extent to which the practice is acceptable.  Killings of young innocent children based on their gender are surging in number every day. Sex selection is a practice where parents can be able to predict the gender of their baby using various technologies before birth.  Most people contend that the method is morally unacceptable for families to opt for child sex selection in preference of a certain gender over the other.

According to Ethics Committee of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (2004), Sex selection is appropriate and anything to be allowed world over. In the Middle East, baby girls are being wrapped in papers and thrown away in drenches just because they are female. In other cases, a husband leaves his wife and children in devastating poverty condition for bearing yet another girl. These cases could be mitigated with a valid and widely accepted mean of sex selection during conception period, to ensure that a couple bears a child of their choice (Flaherty & Matthews, 1996).

Contrary to the above reasons, the scriptures have a different version. Psalms 127:3-5 states that an individual will be praised for his children. The scriptures are general regarding the gender of the children. The scripture also says that God knew all people long before they existed in their mother's wombs. God has a purpose for humanity and people of both genders! God has equal intentions for males and females.

In conclusion, sex selection is mostly preferred by many people to choose a certain gender. While some people are in favor of the practice, the scripture has a different view on the same. People should read the scripture to have a view of God’s intention to humanity.
